OUR APOTHECARY

The Materia Medica of Chinese Medicine lists over 500 herbs (plant, animal and mineral materials). These are the most commonly used medicinal substances in the Chinese pharmacopoeia.  At Point Acupucture & Apothecary we are proud to provide our clientele with a full dispensary of Chinese medicinal herbs in granular form. Our apothecary allows us to create a unique formula for each client's individual needs. This flexibilty to tailor an herbal preparation for the optimal health of a given client is essential to achieve specific wellness goals.

Oriental Medicine has a long history of using herbs as medicine. Historically these herbs were typically decocted in boiling water for 30-60 minutes; the liquid was then strained and taken internally.  Today herbs are available in a variety of forms - raw, dried, powdered, extract granules, tinctures, pills, etc.  Granules, a powdered form of herb extracts, are considerably easier to prepare than raw herb decoctions; the powder is stirred into hot water and taken orally.

We also stock a dispensary of raw (dried) herbs and in-house herbal preparations for topical application (external use) as well as a variety of high quality patent remedies for common and acute conditions.

In addition to our Chinese herbal apothecary, we also have a wide selection of Western herbal medicines in the form of tinctures, teas and topicals, as well as homeopathic remedies, flower essences, and other supplements.
